We're not striking. Whoohoo!!!!

See... the teachers here have been close to a strike. And we got a tentative agreement that seemed ok. I liked it. Others didn't. It looked like it'd be passed, but not with a large majority.

Then.... the budget came down. Over 200 teaching jobs are being cut. This was the day before the vote and swayed some people to vote against. Against meant we'd given a strike notice and would be striking after easter break.

We voted 71% for it. Thank goodness. No strike, 5% back pay raise (back to September when our contractless state began), 2.5% in sept, 2.5% in march for the next 2 years (15% in all). And we'll be paid for the extra 5 days of school.

Works for me.
