Barbeque!!!, 2002-06-16, 9:17 a.m.

We have a barbeque!!! We had to put together this barbeque but it was worth it. Last night we barbequed for the first time on our barbeque. It was cold. It was drizzley on and off. It was foggy. The barbeque went out once or twice (or five times). But it was damn good.

See, we couldn't put it off. We put the thing together yesterday afternoon and that was a challenge in itself. Then we went to get accessories. We had a plan - Canadian Tire for accessories, up to Dominion for food then to Irving for propane. This would involve minimal overlapping and redriving. And cut the time until we could cook our supper.

We go first to Canadian Tire. And we buy flowers for Dad (for the garden - it's a tradition) and the accessories.

We then decide that we're hungry. Really hungry. We don't eat a lot on Saturday when we're doing things and this one was no exception. D. thought I was nuts when earlier I said we should eat something as it could be two hours before we barbeque. However, after 1/2 an hour in Canadian Tire and two more stops to make, plus a 'breaking in' of the barbeque as regulated by the instructions, he saw my point. So we stopped at McDonalds (I know! I had a big digression here about McDonalds, but all you have to do is click here. Anyway.). I got my cheeseburger without meat, he got chicken fajitas. And we discussed the disgustingness of McDonalds poutine, a new item on their menu. That and Mclobster, a seasonal option. Snacks downed, we went to our next destination.

Then to Dominion. We buy hotdogs (veggie ones for me) and hamburgers (I have tex-mex bean burgers!! Yum!!!). We bought fresh made hot dog buns and sesame seed hamburger buns. With those items, and a few others, we went to Irving.

At Irving, we waited in line five minutes. We were then told that the guy there didn't know how to work the propane machine. We were told to go to Canadian Tire or an Esso ten mintues away. We go back to Canadian Tire, where, when (re)entering the parking lot we noticed that the propane tank was closed. So we went to esso. Further from our house, enticing more redriving our route. Esso filled it and we finally started home. As the weather got worse, we discussed our options.

See, D. said yesterday that he didn't want to barbeque until it was sunny. Driving home, I reminded him of this. However, the weather was no deterant. We worked to hard for this barbeque.

And damn, it was good. I made spicy potatos, we drank beer and just had a great supper. It was cold, it was foggy, we had to relight the fire several times. But it was so good. We planning to barbeque everything this summer.

Thus was my supper last night. So very very good. Barbeque is yummy.
