We're Back!!!, 2004-09-21, 6:49 a.m.

We're Back!!!

It was an interesting little trip, which included:

  • A crying baby for half of the ride there (four hours of crying!!! He doesn't normally cry!). This resulted in us leaving Nans early and doing one night half way across in a hotel.

  • Wasps in the car on two separate occasions

  • Lots of really good nanny bread

  • Visiting my grandfathers grave

  • Having my relatives visit and admire P., who put on all the charm for them

  • Seeing all that my old hometown no longer offers

  • Deciding I want to learn to knit (note on this, I still can't Perl - anyone know any good demonstrative websites?)

  • Driving in the tail end of a hurricane, in winds of up to 100 and heavy rainfall for an hour

  • Having the baby sleep almost the whole way. He started crying at the same point that he started on the way there. However, this time, it was 10 minutes from our destination, not four hours.

  • Hydroplaning (is that the correct spelling? Hmmmmmm)

  • Making it to the half way point and getting room service, which taught me to not get hotel steak

  • It also taught me, get the cheesecake. MMmmmm.....

  • Power can go out at hotels. Repeatedly.

  • Having the stroller (WITHOUT the baby!!! He was in the car!) fly across the parking lot at the mall. The brake may be good, but not good enough to hold up to winds that are 50-100 km/h and especially when you're not looking.

  • Having me fly across the parking lot to get it

  • The resulting asthma attack

  • Driving again in 100km/h winds and heavy rain. Wanting to stop.

  • Stopping for lunch and having the winds and rain move on ahead of us.

  • Making it home safely.

And that's it. Well, not at all, but enough. Now, to a wool store to buy things for my attempt at knitting!!
