Water, Water Everywhere... but not a drop to drink, 2001-09-19, 7:02 p.m.
I've just spent the day bailing out my apartment. We got the tail end of a Hurricane and well, the sewers backed up. We woke up this morning to a wet hall and a foot and a half of water in the bathfoom. We kept the door closed all night. Luckily as well, we caught it in time. We didn't lose much - just some computer cases, a computer and perhaps a bookshelf and a desk (which have sentimental value). But we have insurence. The person we rent from doesn't.
We're moving. For one, we don't feel safe here any more. For another, the floors have to be replaced - the carpets have to come up, the cubbards in the bathroom have to be replaced.
We can't live here anymore.
