Back pain, 2003-11-02, 7:56 a.m.

I had major lower back pain last night. So much so that I was almost crying and was definately whining. I looked it up this morning and found the following from this site

"During pregnancy, the joints between your pelvic bones begin to soften and loosen in preparation for your baby passing through your pelvis during birth. In the second trimester, your uterus becomes heavier, changing your center of gravity. Gradually and perhaps without even noticing it you begin to adjust your posture and the ways in which you move. Compensations you make for the change in your center of gravity can result in back pain, strain or other injury.

Another contributor to your back pain may be separation (diastasis) of the two muscles along the front of your abdomen (musculus rectus abdominis). These two parallel bands of muscles run from your rib cage to your pubic bone. As your uterus expands, these muscles may separate along the center seam, causing back pain. If necessary, your doctor can evaluate whether the amount of separation is more than usual and may suggest ways to remedy the separation after your baby is born."

Gotta love descriptions that involve your body coming apart like a lego person. Or a corpse being fed on by vultures.

Dear baby,

Try not to tear apart mommys body. Especially try not to let muscles rip from where they are supposed to be. You will regret it later when she reminds you of it each time you say you're not feeling well and need to stay home. Trust me on this one.

Love,

Mommy
